Provision with the client's email
When you create the form, add the client's email address. It's marked as a client form, but you own it and configure it like any other.

Build and test on your own account
Wire it into the site, test it end to end - submissions land in your dashboard the whole time, same as any form you'd keep for yourself.

When the project wraps, open the form's settings and send the invite. The form keeps accepting submissions while the client has 7 days to accept.

What you keep - and don't

A handoff your client's lawyer doesn't need to see.
Most form backends treat client handoff as an afterthought - export a CSV, email it over, and hope the client sets up their own account. Formhook transfers the account relationship itself: the client becomes the sole controller of their own submission data, and your access to it ends the moment they accept. Combined with EU-only storage and a self-serve Data Processing Agreement, there's no US sub-processor to disclose and no separate transfer clause to write into their privacy policy - just a form that was always theirs, formally handed over.
Client handoff - FAQ
- What does the client actually receive?
- The form and every submission collected under it, transferred to a Formhook account they control. The form's API key doesn't change, so there's no redeploy on their site - the handoff is invisible to visitors.
- Can I still see their submissions afterwards?
- No. Once claimed, you see the form's name, status, and a rolling 30-day submission count in your Clients console - never the content. That's a deliberate GDPR boundary, not a missing feature.
- Do I lose the sale? Does the client have to pay?
- Neither, necessarily. Submissions on a transferred form keep counting against your Studio quota, so the client can run the form on a Free account and still get Pro-level submission volume. If you'd rather they take over billing, that's their call - Formhook doesn't force it.
- What happens to file uploads and integrations?
- Attachments stay billed to your Studio storage quota after the claim. A connected Google Sheets sync doesn't carry over - it's tied to whoever owns the form, so the client needs to reconnect their own Google account if they want the sync to keep running.
- How long does the client have to accept?
- Seven days from the invite. You can resend it any time before or after it expires, which mints a fresh 7-day window, or revoke it if the handoff falls through.
- Is this a clean GDPR handoff?
- The client becomes the sole controller of their own submission data, and you no longer have access to read it. Pair that with Formhook's EU-only storage (see our DPA) and there's no US processor, no separate data-transfer clause, and no export-and-reimport step to explain to a client's lawyer.
